Hi, my name is Yiting but I go by Gemma. I'm a Statistics undergraduate at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario.

I love turning messy data into clear, useful products from real-time dashboards to full-stack web apps. I'm adaptable, detail-focused, and always up for a new technical challenge. My goal is to grow into a data scientist and full-stack engineer who builds tools that genuinely help people.

ShelterGrid

Backend Developer — NVIDIA Spark Hackathon, Toronto

An agentic platform that coordinates capacity across Toronto homeless shelters in real time, routing people to available shelters via a mesh of NVIDIA Nemotron-3 Nano agents. Built the FastMCP tool server — overcapacity detection, sector pressure, demand forecasting — on a pgvector RAG layer and a Redis-primary, DuckDB-fallback pipeline. Shipped in 3 days.

A responsive journaling app to log, archive, and retrieve dream data through a full CRUD interface, with logic to analyse sleep frequency and emotional trends — built in a dark-mode UI using CSS Grid and custom properties.

DataCamp 2025 Certification Project

Analysed a 500+ record dataset in Python to study the correlation between international students' length of stay and diagnostic mental-health scores, identifying high-risk periods and delivering visualised, actionable recommendations.
